A letter from Father Obi

Dear Principal, Teachers, Staff and Students,

Happy Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

As we celebrate today’s special feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross - which is the Feast of Holy Cross School, I think of you and pray for you.

Looking at the Crucifix today, I am reminded again of the Father’s love for us that made Him to send Jesus to us: For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son to us…. (John 3:16).

As we pray with today’s Gospel reading John 3:16, I encourage you as I have done in the past to replace ‘world’ with your name. For God so loved me ….. that He sent Jesus that I who believe in Him May have eternal life.

May Holy Cross School continue to be a place where each child knows how much they are loved by Jesus and May we share that love with everyone we meet.

You are precious to God! You matter to Him. You are important!

I will pray for you at Mass today. Please pray for me, too, and for your new Pastor, Fr. Neil.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you before leaving for my new parish in Kelowna. I hope to come and see you soon. If you are ever in Kelowna, please come and say hi. I’d love to share a cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate with you.

What a joy and grace it was for me to have journeyed alongside you for four years.
