Exploring Chemistry in Action

Term 3 got off to a strong start as our Lab Skills elective class conducted a hands-on experiment called “5 Colours from One Solution”. Starting with a colourless liquid, the students added a few drops of various chemicals at a time, watching as their solution changes to pink, then yellow, then blood-red, before finally changing into a deep blue.

The final result is called “Prussian Blue”, which is used as both a paint pigment and a medication for radiation poisoning.
