Inspiring Insights from The Honourable Senator Bev Busson

We welcomed The Honourable Senator for British Columbia Bev Busson as part of our Career Speaker Series on Governance and Democracy. Our SCALA students gained valuable insights into the Senate's role in Canada through Senator Busson's impactful contributions.

Senator Busson shared her career history as a graduate of the first class of female RCMP officers in Canada and being the first female commissioner of the RCMP. For her contributions to Canadian law enforcement, she was named Commander of the Order of Merit of Police Forces by the Governor General, awarded the Vice Chief of Defence Staff Commendation, the Order of British Columbia and was named to the Order of Canada.

Through this program students connect academics to the real world with hands-on experiences that inspire career pathways and future passion.

Our thanks to Mrs. Cumberland for sharing this picture at the International Vote 16 Summit in 2024 in Ottawa with Senator Busson and panelist Sophie Robinson, Holy Cross alumni.
