Our school held our annual Remembrance Day ceremony to honour those who fought and we especially remembered those who never returned home from the battlefields. After the opening prayer from Father Neil, students learned from Corporal Daniel (our Legacy Academy student) about the Cadet Program. This talk was followed by a presentation from Mrs. Kutschera about Francis Pegahmagabow, one of the most highly decorated Indigenous soldiers of the First World War.
To wrap up the ceremony our kindergarten class sang the “Little Poppy” poem and the drama club recited “In Flanders Field”
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the exact moment the guns fell silent in 1918, and ever since then, Canadians mark the day to honour our dead.
