Grade 5 has been buzzing with learning! Students turned their classroom into a lively arcade, showcasing their understanding of complex machines through creative arcade games they designed themselves.

Our Foods elective class wrapped up last week with a fantastic multi course meal and sit down luncheon. On the menus were chili, corn bread, Greek salad, brownies and punch. No demo day for this one, just their own skills; reading recipes, working together and cooking it all on their own.

We were pleased to welcome Sergeant Laurie Rock, officer in charge of the Oliver RCMP detachment, and Corporal Jason Goodfellow of RCMP dog services to SCALA campus as part of our Career Speaker Series to talk to our students about careers in policing. A huge congratulations to all our students who took part in this year's Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM Fair held at UBC Okanagan! A special shout out to this year’s award winners: Beckham and Thomas got awarded a B.C. hydro book prize for their energy project. Claire and Scarlett won a $100 award from the B.C. Delicioso! A few snapshots of our clase de español students enjoying delicious food and making piñatas. Sharing a meal and creating arts and crafts together encourages conversation and develops their Spanish language skills. What a fun way to promote diversity and global awareness through food and art!
