The Importance of Virtues in Education

This week we were delighted to see our school community at our Virtues Awards assembly recognizing the virtue of LOVE. This virtue requires us to want the good of another. The assembly was also an inspirational time for our students to reflect on March’s Virtue: FORGIVENESS.

Why virtues? The English word virtue is a translation from its Greek and Latin origins. Arete is a Greek term meaning “character excellences” and when translated into Latin is “virtus,” meaning “effectiveness in action”. A virtue requires us to cultivate good character that provides us with a moral compass. We are very proud of all our students for a fantastic showing of their commitment and congratulations to all the students who received awards!
