Discovering the Life Cycle of Butterflies Through Art and Science

What a creative way to learn about butterflies! Our grade 2 science studies involved examining the life cycle of the painted lady butterfly from caterpillars to adults and researching rainforest animals. Students also integrated math and science units by using mathematical concepts of symmetry in creating symmetrical butterfly models in arts class. To wrap up the unit students were thrilled to release the butterflies into nature.
