We were thrilled to once again participate in Student Vote Canada. Our students in grades 2 through 8 had the opportunity to take part in this meaningful, hands-on learning experience. Holy Cross has earned a reputation for excellence in civic education and we’re proud to continue encouraging our students to become informed, engaged citizens from an early age. Encouraging students to be active and informed citizens is an important part of their education—and our democracy benefits when they get involved.
Student Vote is a dynamic learning experience that empowers students to explore the democratic process by casting ballots for the official local candidates in a parallel election.
This program is coordinated by CIVIX in collaboration with Elections Canada.
A big shoutout to our grade 8 students for standing in as election officials and running the polling stations. A big thank you as well to candidates, Linda Sankey NDP of Canada, Philip Mansfield, Green Party of Canada, Gloria Morgan Liberal Party of Canada, Barry Dewar People’s Party of Canada who attended our all candidates panel in preparation for our Student Vote.
